PT Anywhere and the Open Networking Lab make news

The latest STEM newsletter of the Open University features the collaboration of the Open Networking Lab with the Watford college. The Open Networking Lab makes available introductory practical computer networking skills training, in order to service the needs of vocational learners (Further Education and Apprenticeship levels), educators, and industry. PT Anywhere is the underlying technology the project uses to teach networking concepts. The team consisting of Alexander Mikroyannidis, Chris Sanders and Allan Third are in charge of developing this technology in collaboration with the Cisco Networking Academy, which has over 1 million students worldwide.

A core feature of the project is collaboration with schools, colleges and UTCs (University Technology Colleges) who all work in the post sixteen sector. The project has been working with post sixteen BTEC students at the Watford UTC and testing the content as well as using it to underpin the teaching of the BTEC national qualification. Apart from online badges, students also received statements of participation as part of their study and progression portfolio. The project will continue working with colleges and will deliver a Badged Open Course available to the public via the OpenLearn platform.
