My research areas of interest are related with knowledge management and applications of Semantic and Social Web technologies in Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL). Recently, I have been investigating Self-Regulated Learning (SRL) and the challenges involved in the adoption of Personal Learning Environments (PLEs) by the life-long learner. I have also been working on the production of online courses and Open Educational Resources (OERs), delivered through various educational platforms, such as interactive eBooks.

I have contributed to several projects of the 5th, 6th, and 7th Framework Programme of the European Community, notably weSPOT (ICT-2012-318499), Euclid (ICT-2012-296229), ROLE (ICT-2009-231396), DEMO-net (ICT-2006-27219), CASPAR (ICT-2005-33572), and PARMENIDES (IST-2001-39023). I have published my work in peer-reviewed journals and books, and presented it in international conferences and workshops.
